In Austin Trails
I've been living in Austin just over 6 years now, and it has been incredible to see it grow! One thing I noticed since moving from Seattle was how some areas of Austin were difficult to connect without a car. I'm really happy to see all the changes we've enjoyed in recent years. One of the improvements I am most excited about is the new #VioletCrownTrail. This has been a project in the works for several years, but I've recently been exploring some of the new sections which are still being worked on. During my time in #ATX I've always lived in #SouthAustin, and in my first few years here I spent a lot of time biking and running between the #CherryCreek and #CircleC neighborhoods. I loved how many different open space areas there were to explore from #MaryMooreSearight to #BauerleRanch to #SunsetValley to #TheVeloway and #TheSlaughterCreekTrail. But I've always dreamed of a day when they'd all be better connected. To see the Violet Crown Trail become a reality is a huge step in the right direction. I think Austin has the potential to have one of the best trail systems of any major city in the country. If you're not familiar with the Violet Crown Trail, it is the extension of a trailhead to the #BartonCreekGreenbelt which begins at Hwy 290 and Brodie Ln. When complete the trail will extend about 30 miles into Hayes county. A couple of days ago I got a chance to explore between William Cannon Blvd and the Veloway. Although I tend to prefer more rugged and natural surfaces these days, it's pretty cool to see how this will make nature more accessible for everyone. And good news, from what I can tell, plenty of rugged trails will remain intact and scattered throughout. Take a look at my route where I'm able to connect #StephensonNaturePreserve and the Veloway completely on trails. Where are your favorite places to run? In Barefoot Banter
This forum is for all bipedal foot owners! Better yet, it's for those who want HEALTHIER feet. Join in on the barefoot banter if you want to connect with other barefooters or those who are just bare-curious. 😉 Maybe you have questions, you'd like to offer suggestions, or you just have some fun stories to share. We want to hear about your barefoot experience so far! Please note, "going barefoot" is for anyone with feet and is not only of interest to runners. In fact, you should walk before you run, and "going barefoot" applies to all derivatives of the bare foot that attempt to minimize the impact on it's normal functioning (i.e. natural, minimal, and zero-drop footwear).
